It’s not often we get to write about three acting greats in one Grand Cinemas issue, and December presents just that opportunity. “Once you’re past 70, there’s nothing much they can do to you,” says Clint Eastwood, the man in this issue’s DIRECTOR’S CHAIR on page 48. For over half a century, the “Lone Gunman” has tantalised us with his craft; now at 78, Eastwood impresses yet again with his new drama, Changeling. Meanwhile, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have brought many a movie buff’s dreams to life with Righteous Kill, the first project to feature these colossal talents together for the majority of a film. In Spotlight (p20), we uncover the behind-the-scenes conversation that brought the film to reality, and give film fans the chance to test their knowledge of those undying movie quotes that were spoken by the Godfathers themselves.
December is also the issue we finally get to sink our teeth into Twilight, the monstrously anticipated romance thriller. Legions of the devoted will be lining up at cinema counters come December 4th, and we’ll be waiting for those special photos to come in soon after. See page 12 for our “shout out” to Twilight fans and our planned future coverage.
You can also browse through BUZZ (p8) for a sneak peek at the films in contention for the upcoming Oscars, find your guide to the Dubai film fest in DIFF DIARY (p14), win tons of prizes in no less than seven giveaway draws, and find out what’s playing in December in SEASON PREVIEW (p30).
See you at the movies!
